ANTI-AGING PRODUCTS & SPRAY TAN. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.
Spray tans work by reacting with the outer layer of dead skin. Anything that exfoliates or changes the skin’s surface can make the tan develop unevenly or fade faster.
What will affect my spray tan?
- Retinoids (retinol, tretinoin, adapalene, etc.)
These increase cell turnover, causing quicker shedding of the outer skin -which leads to faster tan fading.
- Chemical exfoliants (AHAs like glycolic/lactic acid, BHAs like salicylic acid)
They slough off dead skin and can make the tan patchy or fade sooner.
- Physical scrubs or exfoliating brushes
Same effect as above – pre-tan exfoliation is good, but use gently and stop close to tanning time.
Moral of the story , we want it all. We want to use our anti-aging skincare and be tan. I suggest doing your normal skincare routine and getting a touch up the week before your body is ready for a full spray tan. We offer the Bespoke Touch- Up for this reason. We contour your hands and face. These being the two areas to fade the fastest this service ensures you’re flawlessly tanned head to toe.
